A Columbia TN Christmas Guide: Holiday Events, Seasonal Lights, Santa Photos, and Tree Farms (2025)

Graphic for “A Columbia TN Christmas Guide: Holiday Events, Seasonal Lights, Santa Photos, and Tree Farms,” featuring the title text over a small image of a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments.

The Christmas season always seems to arrive a little faster than expected, and this year is no exception. Holiday activities begin as early as the first Friday in November with Columbia’s Downtown First Friday’s celebration including the tree lighting and a visit from Santa. The weeks that follow are filled with events, lights, and festive gatherings.

Families celebrate in all kinds of ways, from community parades and holiday markets to the smaller traditions at home that make the season special. Setting out the Elf on the Shelf, decorating outside, hanging stockings, and taking pictures to remember wish list ideas are all part of the fun.

It’s also a time for giving. Many families find ways to share what they have, whether that means donating toys or clothes, volunteering, or helping a neighbor. Some children even place a small bag of toys under the tree for Santa to take and pass along to others, a simple reminder of what the season is really about.

To make it easier to plan your holiday season, this guide gathers local and nearby Christmas activities organized by date or driving distance from Downtown Columbia. You can jump straight to each section below:

While I’ve done my best to include as many events as possible, it’s practically impossible to gather every single one. I’ll continue updating this guide as new details are announced, but I may miss a few along the way. If you see something that should be added, feel free to send it my way.

The holidays always bring so much life to Columbia, from small-town gatherings to the sparkle of nearby events. As you look through the guide, you’ll find plenty of ways to make memories, support local businesses, and enjoy the season with family and friends.

For the 2025 season, the program began accepting letters on September 15. Letters must be postmarked by December 6 to be considered for adoption. The online letter adoption period opens November 17, and volunteers can purchase and ship gifts until December 13 to help ensure delivery before Christmas.

Letters should be addressed exactly as follows:

Santa

North Pole, 88888

To prepare the envelope correctly:

  3. Attach a First Class stamp in the upper right corner.
  4. Place your letter inside and seal the envelope securely.
  5. Drop the letter into any USPS collection box or take it to your local post office.

Letters must include a clear return address. Children can write their own letters or use any template they prefer.

How Letters Are Adopted
Beginning November 17, verified users can create a free account at USPSOperationSanta.com and view the posted letters. Names and addresses are removed before letters appear online to protect privacy.

How Gifts Are Sent
After adopting a letter, volunteers purchase gifts and ship them through USPS using the instructions provided during adoption. Gifts must be shipped by December 13 to improve the chances of pre Christmas delivery.

Who Can Participate
Any child or family in the United States can send a letter. Any verified adult can adopt one. Groups and businesses are also allowed to adopt multiple letters together.
