Family Friendly Activities in Columbia TN • Week of December 22–28, 2025

This week brings a much quieter and calmer holiday rhythm. You’ll notice several days with no scheduled kids events or activities, which feels fitting for this time of year. After a very full season, this slower pace offers a chance to rest, reset, and enjoy some unstructured time together (and maybe enjoy a holiday present or two). I hope the holiday season has brought warmth and meaningful moments to your family and loved ones.

If you’re still hoping to fit in a bit of holiday fun, this week brings a couple more chances to catch Santa for a meet and greet before the season wraps up, along with one last opportunity to visit the garden lights at the Polk Home. If you’re looking to celebrate the season this week or even after Christmas, the Columbia TN Christmas Guide continues to be a helpful resource. It includes seasonal light displays and holiday experiences that run beyond Christmas Day.

My own family has especially loved driving around to the free local light displays in Columbia this season. Even for very young children, it’s been a simple and memorable way to experience the holidays. The lights are bright, colorful, and engaging, and it’s an easy outing that doesn’t require a lot of planning.

And for those last-minute shoppers, there’s still time to support local businesses. The Kids Gift Guide: Local Gifts and Experience Ideas highlights both experience-based gifts and thoughtfully selected physical gifts chosen with quality and durability in mind.

A few notes to keep in mind as you plan your week:

    • Villages Clubhouse will offer open play sessions on Monday and Tuesday only. These sessions will run until 11:00 AM and require advance registration. Drop-ins will not be available.
    • I’m confirming holiday hours with several local kid-friendly businesses that don’t have specific events scheduled, so families can still find options for getting out of the house.
    • Several weekly favorites are paused until the new year, so it’s best to double-check details before heading out.

Scroll down or click on a day below for the full calendar with dates, times, costs, and links to help you plan.

Family Friendly Activities in Columbia TN • Week of December 8–14, 2025

This week brings a full lineup of kids activities in Columbia and Spring Hill, with a healthy mix of holiday events, creative projects, open play sessions, and everyday programs for little ones. With so many things happening at once, I had to sit down with my physical calendar to sort out the events my daughter and I are already signed up for, plus a few more I want to try to fit in. It is definitely a plan ahead kind of week.

If holiday events are not on your agenda, there are still plenty of opportunities to fill your calendar with everyday favorites Open Gymnastics at Discovery Gym and Art Play at TN Art Yard. And if you are out and about this week, there is a good chance we will be too.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the Columbia TN Christmas Guide brings together all the local holiday happenings, from one day events and light displays to Santa photo opportunities and local tree farms.

Here are a few event highlights to help you get started:

    Before you plan your week

Many programs require advance registration and several fill quickly, especially in December. This is a good week to plan ahead and save your spots. Saturday is the busiest day of the month for holiday events and Santa photo opportunities, so expect a full and festive day around town.

  • Family Friendly Activities in Columbia TN • Week of December 1–7, 2025

If you are looking for kids activities in Columbia, TN or family events around Maury County, this weekly guide covers everything happening for families from December 1 through December 7, 2025. Each week, I share an easy to scan list of local events for babies, toddlers, and young kids, along with holiday activities, free events, and simple things to do with your family around Columbia and Spring Hill. This week brings a mix of indoor play, community events, and seasonal outings to help you plan ahead.

Now that December is here, the calendar is packed from beginning to end. With so many Christmas events happening this month, I decided to keep Christmas specific activities primarily in two places: the Christmas Guide and the monthly calendar. This keeps everything organized and makes it easier to update if details change. If you are looking for anything from cookie decorating to places to get Santa pictures, the Christmas Guide is your one stop resource. I will continue sharing calendar screenshots in Facebook and Instagram stories, and those will include only Columbia and Spring Hill Christmas events.

Whether you’re planning a morning out with the kids, searching for family-friendly events in Columbia or Spring Hill, or just looking for fun ways to enjoy the start of the holiday season, there’s always something happening nearby. From hands-on crafts to community celebrations, this week’s calendar is filled with ways to make memories together. Save or share this post so it’s easy to find when you’re planning your next outing, and check back soon for more local events, holiday guides, and family-friendly fun across Columbia and Spring Hill

  • Family Friendly Activities in Columbia TN • Week of November 24–30, 2025

If you are looking for family friendly activities in Columbia, TN and Spring Hill, here is what is happening for Thanksgiving Week (November 24 to November 30, 2025).

Thanksgiving week usually comes with a lighter event lineup, and that is true this week. If you are spending more time at home or traveling to see family, I hope the slower pace gives you a chance to enjoy your kids and ease into the season.

I also want to say how thankful I am for everyone who follows along, sends kind messages, tags a friend, or shares an event they found because of this guide. It means more than you know. I am grateful to share this information with families, and I appreciate every person who checks in week after week.

This week, instead of event highlights, I want to share something many of you have been asking about: a new toddler soccer option. Soccer Shots has officially launched in Columbia, and winter sessions begin December 6. The program serves ages 2 to 8, and you can get 10% off with the code “NEWLOCATION10” through December 6. I am often asked about sports programs for younger kids, and since this one is new to Columbia, I wanted to make sure it was on your radar. You can view the Columbia registration page here.

Also, starting Friday, you will see Christmas events added to this weekly guide. It is not going to be overwhelming. I am only including a few opening days and Christmas events happening in Columbia or Spring Hill. Since there is already a full Christmas Guide, and not everyone is interested in holiday happenings, it did not make sense to repeat everything here.

For anyone looking specifically for Santa photos, there is also a separate Where to Take Pictures With Santa Guide. It is divided by Columbia, Spring Hill, and surrounding areas, and includes specialty options such as sensory friendly visits.

I hope you all find something that works well for your family this week. Happy Thanksgiving!

Kids Gift Guide: Local Gifts and Experience Ideas in Columbia TN and Spring Hill

This guide is all about helping families in Columbia, TN and Spring Hill find meaningful gifts for kids, including both local experience gifts and high quality physical gifts from nearby shops.

Every year, the holiday gift question seems to start earlier and earlier. What should we get for Christmas? Parents ask it. Grandparents ask it. And often the honest answer is that the house already feels full. Kids have so many things, and adding more at Christmas can feel unnecessary. That is why experience gifts stand out. They give families time together, memorable activities, and something to look forward to long after Christmas morning.

And when physical gifts are part of the plan, choosing items you can trust for their quality, materials, and purpose feels far better than simply adding another toy to the pile. Thoughtful choices, whether experiences or meaningful items, matter during a season that already brings so much “stuff.”

Local options for both experience gifts and physical gifts play an important role in supporting small businesses. Shop owners pour their time, resources, and energy into creating something valuable for this community. Their products and services are intentional, family centered, and chosen with care. Without them, Columbia and Spring Hill would not be the same. And while it is easy and convenient to click and ship from big retailers, choosing gifts from nearby shops helps keep our community strong.

This guide will continue to grow as more local businesses share their details. Several are still getting back to me, and new gift options will be added as they come in. If you know of a place that should be included, I would be grateful to hear about it. Updates will continue throughout the season so this guide reflects as much of our community as possible.

Together, these ideas offer thoughtful gifts, lasting experiences, and opportunities to support the people who call this area home.

    Experience Gifts for Kids

These local businesses offer experience gifts that create memories long after Christmas morning. Many of them provide multiple options and price tiers, making it easy to find something that fits your budget. Several also allow you to purchase a membership or package now and start it later, so the gift begins when the family is ready. From art studios and play spaces to creative classes and memberships, these options give families meaningful experiences without adding more clutter to the house.

    Why Supporting Local Matters

Choosing gifts for kids does not have to feel overwhelming. Whether you prefer experience gifts that create memories or high quality items from local shops, Columbia and Spring Hill offer plenty of options that families can trust. Supporting these businesses keeps our community strong and gives children gifts that feel meaningful long after the holidays.

And as more brick and mortar shops have closed in recent years, it feels more important than ever to support the places that remain. These local businesses are part of what makes this community feel like home, and every purchase helps keep them here for the families who love them. No matter which direction you choose, these local ideas make Christmas shopping easier, more intentional, and rooted right here where we live.

  • Family Friendly Activities in Columbia TN • Week of November 17–23, 2025

Things to Do With Kids in Columbia and Spring Hill This Week

The week before Thanksgiving is still packed with ways to spend time with your kids. While most of this week’s lineup includes familiar favorites, there are also a few new events sprinkled in that are worth noting and highlighted below.

If you’re looking for Christmas activities, those won’t be included in the weekly guide or on the calendar. You can find them all in the Christmas Events Guide instead. If you have some favorite traditions that you haven’t booked yet, they may already be sold out, but there are still plenty of festive events to choose from that have availability or don’t require tickets.

Here are a few events worth highlighting this week:

    • The Mom Walk Co. Columbia’s First Meetup (Tuesday Morning)
You may have attended one of these walks with the Spring Hill group, but this one is brand new for Columbia, and it’s exciting to see a local chapter start up.
    • Story Time with Jake at Spring Hill Public Library (Wednesday Morning)
A fun, musical story time led by Jacob “Jake” Johnson with songs, puppets, and laughter for all ages.
    • Living Ornaments Workshop (Thursday Morning)
Kids ages 4 and up can create a living ornament using succulents and seasonal decorations. These workshops tend to waitlist, so it’s best to sign up early.
    • Daddy Daughter & Mother Son Dance (Friday Evening)
A sweet evening out hosted by Chick-fil-A Columbia, celebrating parent and child connections. Advanced registration is required, and this is a ticketed event.
    • Open Play at Villages Clubhouse (Saturday Morning)
This week’s theme is Turkeys, with sensory play and creative activities to match.

  • Columbia TN Christmas Parade 2025: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

Columbia TN Christmas Parade 2025: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

The Columbia Main Street Christmas Parade is one of the most festive events of the season, drawing families, friends, and visitors to Downtown Columbia each December. This guide covers everything you need to know for the Columbia TN Christmas Parade 2025, including the parade route, parking options, arrival timing, accessibility notes, and the best places to watch along West 7th Street and the Square. If you are planning holiday outings beyond the parade, I also include this event in A Columbia TN Christmas Guide: Holiday Events, Seasonal Lights, Santa Photos, and Tree Farms.

What to Know About the Columbia TN Christmas Parade

The Columbia TN Christmas Parade takes place every December in Downtown Columbia and typically follows a similar route each year.

    Event Overview

    Date: Saturday, December 6, 2025
    Time: 6 PM
    Location: Downtown Columbia, TN
    Cost: Free
    Sponsor: Stan McNabb Chevrolet
    Organizer: Columbia Main Street

The Columbia Main Street Christmas Parade is now in its 39th year. It includes local marching bands, schools, churches, businesses, community groups, and decorated holiday floats. If you arrive early, there will be games and giveaways at 5:30 PM near the Downtown Square with Kaliente Conway Glenn and the Junior Main Street volunteers. Columbia Main Street often live streams the parade on Facebook for those who prefer to watch from home.

    Traditional Parade Route

The 2025 parade is using Columbia’s long-time parade route. It starts at the Trotwood Avenue and West 7th Street split, moves east along West 7th, and continues into the Courthouse Square area before wrapping up on East 7th.

    About the 2025 Grand Marshals

The Grand Marshals for the Columbia Main Street Christmas Parade 2025 are Austin and Colin. They are Cincinnati natives turned Nashville artists known for their Songs for Cities project, which transforms the charm, history, and personality of different towns into custom music videos. Their recent Columbia feature highlighted local spots and captured the spirit of the community in a warm, creative way. You can watch their Columbia Songs for Cities video here.

    Street Closures and Arrival Timing

Floats line up between 3:30 and 4:00 PM, and the Columbia Police Department has confirmed that temporary road closures will begin at 3:00 PM. West 7th Street will be closed from Academy Lane to the downtown area, and roads will reopen immediately after the parade concludes.

If you want a good viewing spot, it is best to arrive around 5:00 PM or shortly after. Last year we watched from the split at Trotwood and West 7th, which ended up being a great location. Floats lined up toward Columbia Academy, which allowed us to walk up West 7th comfortably and find a spot without difficulty.

If you are bringing a stroller, be prepared to walk in the closed street rather than the sidewalk once crowds fill in, since sidewalks can get tight.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative routes if travel is needed in the affected area during the temporary closures.

    Parking Guidance

The Columbia Police Department has also announced temporary no parking zones beginning at 3:00 PM on the 400 block of West 7th Street through the downtown area. No street parking will be allowed in this section until the parade is finished.

Public parking lots and approved downtown spaces are generally the best choices for families attending the parade. The lot near the post office is close to the beginning of the route and may be an option, although its availability can vary since it sits directly along the parade path. There is usually access from the side street near Foodland, but arriving early is recommended in case portions of the lot are blocked.

Lots off the Square, including those near the library, can also work well, although the library area is closer to the end of the route and typically has more foot traffic. Planning to walk a few blocks usually results in an easier experience.

Some families choose to park in nearby residential neighborhoods, but this is not always ideal. Residential streets often do not have sidewalks, and most remain open to traffic during the parade, so extra caution is needed. If you use residential parking, be mindful of yards, driveways, and pedestrians.

    Best Viewing Areas for Families

Families with younger children or strollers often find the start of the route near the Trotwood and West 7th split easier to navigate and less crowded. Corners along West 7th can offer more flexibility for arriving and leaving as needed. The Courthouse Square area provides a festive backdrop, but it fills quickly and can be more challenging with strollers.

    What to Expect for Kids

The parade is family friendly, but a little preparation helps. Parade participants are instructed not to throw candy from floats. If items are handed out, they are usually distributed by walkers. Some vehicles may use loud horns or sirens, so noise reducing headphones can be helpful for babies or sound sensitive children. December evenings cool down quickly, so warm layers are recommended.

    Tree Lighting Information

If you are looking for details about the downtown Christmas tree lighting, it took place earlier in the season during First Fridays on November 8. The tree will still be lit and visible during the parade, but the lighting ceremony will not take place that night.

The Columbia Main Street Christmas Parade is always a cheerful way to welcome the holiday season. Whether you plan to watch from the beginning of the route, find a spot closer to the Square, or enjoy the live stream from home, it is a night that brings the community together and offers something fun for every age. Planning ahead with parking, timing, and a good viewing spot can make the evening even more enjoyable for your family.

Things to Do With Kids in Columbia and Spring Hill This Week

The fall season has officially wrapped up, and downtown Columbia has already flipped the switch to Christmas with the tree lighting marking the start of the holiday season. While the early holiday excitement is fun, this is also the perfect time to pause and remember what the Thanksgiving season is really about: gratitude. It’s a season for slowing down, taking a breath, and appreciating the good things in our lives, big and small.

Before the holiday rush completely takes over, I want to say how thankful I am for all of you who follow along, share kind words, and support Columbia TN Kids Guide. This little project has grown because of your encouragement and community spirit, and that means so much.

This week also brings Veterans Day on Tuesday, which feels like a good reminder of how many people in our community give and serve in different ways. Some places may be closed, so it’s a good idea to double-check hours before heading out. Stroller Workout and Walk is canceled for Tuesday but will return with a new later time next week. There are also at least two Veterans Day parades if you’d like to get out and show your support.

It’s also the time of year to look out for others, whether that’s through volunteering, food or toy donations, or monetary contributions. The holidays can be joyful, but they can also be hard for some families, and a small act of kindness can make a big difference. If you’re in a position to give, there are plenty of opportunities to support neighbors in need right here in our community. And if you or someone you know could use a little extra help right now, the Food and Resource Guide on Columbia TN Kids Guide lists local options for food, baby supplies, and other support services.

And if you’re ready to start planning for Christmas fun, the Christmas Events Guide is live. I’m still deciding how to handle holiday events within the weekly blog and online calendar, so for now it’s best to check that guide for official listings and updates as new events are added.

Here are a few events worth highlighting this week:

    • Monday Makers Club: Homemade Helicopters (Monday Morning)
Get ready to wind up some fun and watch your creativity take flight with this hands-on STEM activity.
    • Maury County Veterans Day Parade (Tuesday Morning)

    • Fall Sensory Play at Arise Therapies (Wednesday Morning)

A program for ages 0–18 months held once a month (during renovations) featuring sensory play and social time for parents and babies.
