The week ahead (September 1–7) has plenty going on for families around Columbia. aMuse’um kicks off its updated fall play sessions this week, bringing kids new opportunities for hands-on fun and learning. Since Monday is Labor Day, many places will be closed, but you can still wrap up the Maury County Fair or enjoy one last splash at Columbia’s outdoor pools and splash pads before they close for the season.

Monday, September 1
Labor Day brings a lighter schedule, but still plenty to enjoy. You can close out the long weekend with one last visit to the Maury County Fair or make the most of the final splash of summer at local pools and splash pads before they close for the season.

Description: The fair continues into Labor Day with family fun on the midway, delicious fair food, and the free Kids Zone featuring face painting, pony express rides, the All-American Petting Zoo, balloon artist, and inflatables from Here Comes the Fun. Highlights include the Swine Show at 3:00 PM and the Jump N Run at 6:30 PM in the back arena.
💦 Pools & Splash Pads
Location: Columbia & surrounding area
Description: The Columbia Aquatics & Recreation Center will be open from 12:00–6:00 PM. This is also the final day of the season for all outdoor water features, including the Riverwalk Park Splash Pad, Fairview Park Splash Pad, and the outdoor pool and splash pad at the Aquatics Center. Other area pools and splash pads also close for the season on Labor Day. Check with each location for official hours and closing details. Don’t miss the last splash of summer!
Tuesday, September 2
Tuesday is a full lineup of activities for families, from hands-on art in Spring Hill to story times, Lego building, and more. Note that the Parks & Rec stroller walk & workout is on pause this week but will return next Tuesday.
