It feels like spring is starting to wake up a little more each day as we head into the second week of March. Maury County Schools are back to business as usual after last Friday’s day off, while Williamson County families are officially on Spring Break, so some Spring Hill programming may look a little different this week. For many of us, it is also officially tulip watch season as we keep an eye on Liberty Grace Farms to see when opening day will be announced for their u-pick tulip fields, only about 15 minutes from downtown Columbia.
As we look ahead to spring outings and fresh routines, I am excited to share a new featured partnership with Katie at First Notes Music. This means readers who are new families to her Music Together® program can save $10 on the Spring 2026 Maracas Session using the one-time code “KIDSGUIDE10”.
Classes are held in both Columbia and Spring Hill on various days and times. Our family is starting our fourth series this spring after watching our daughter grow, sing, and light up through these classes since she was about 18 months old. If you want to try things out before jumping into a full session, there is also a fun Pajama Party Pop-Up class option in both towns, including a special evening offering at Maddy’s Playhouse.
If you’re tracking upcoming sports and activity season kickoffs, here are two starting soon:
- Spring Academy Nights Soccer 8‑Week Program – The series kicks off Monday, March 9 at Ridley Sports Complex in Columbia for players ages U6–U12. Sessions run Mondays from 5:30 PM–7:00 PM through the spring season. Led by the Columbia State Women’s Soccer Team, the program focuses on age‑appropriate instruction, skill development, and small‑sided games in a fun, development‑oriented setting. Cost is $40 for all eight sessions.
- Firefly Garden Club Spring Series – The spring session for ages 4+ begins Thursday, March 12 at the Villages Clubhouse in Columbia. Registration covers all four main Thursday classes plus two optional LAB days throughout the semester. Activities include creative projects and nature-based learning such as Bird Homes & Garden Gnomes, Dirt Detectives, Happy Herbs, and Pollinator Pals. Cost is $80 for the full series.
Some highlights for families looking for things to do with kids this week include:
- Open Play at Villages Clubhouse (Monday–Saturday) – Open-ended indoor and outdoor play at Villages Clubhouse, and the last chance to check out the current Around the Neighborhood theme before they switch to something new.
- Crafternoon (Monday afternoon) – Hands-on craft time for kids and families with Maury County Public Library, currently held off-site during renovations.
- Midstate Classic Softball Showcase (Tuesday all day) – A full day of softball at Ridley Sports Complex featuring high school, college, and university teams, plus concessions, food trucks, and family-friendly activities.
- Bloom & Brush (Wednesday afternoon) – An off-site Maury County Public Library program where kids decorate flower pots and take home a plant or planter.
- Baby Play Date (Thursday morning) – A sensory-rich play session for babies and caregivers hosted off-site while the library building is closed.
- Harry Potter Library Club (Friday afternoon) – A themed club for young Harry Potter fans meeting at the Exhibit Building during renovations.
- Paint Easter Eggs Workshop (Saturday morning) – A drop-in pottery painting workshop at Baxter’s Mercantile with Hotsy Potsy Pottery Painting Studio.
- Kids Leprechaun Trap Workshop (Saturday afternoon) – A St. Patrick’s Day themed, hands-on workshop at Love, Rae Grace Boutique where kids build their own leprechaun traps and enjoy a festive experience.
Whether you are leaning into Spring Break, sticking to your usual routine, or just chasing the first signs of spring wherever you can find them, I hope this week’s guide makes it a little easier to plan something fun for your family.

Description: A kids-only Pokémon learning league hosted by Just Roll With It! Cards and Games, focused on helping young players learn the game, practice strategies, and enjoy friendly matches with other Pokémon fans. All experience levels are typically welcome, including beginners who are just starting to explore the trading card game.
Sorting through calendars, sign-ups, and changing schedules can make planning with kids feel like a lot, so my goal with this guide is to simplify things and give you an easy starting point. I hope it helps you spot a few outings, classes, or quiet activities that feel right for this particular week, whether that means getting out every day or just choosing one special thing to look forward to. Please remember to confirm times, locations, and costs with the event host before you go, since details can shift after publication.
To keep this free weekly roundup going, I am testing out small ways to support the behind-the-scenes work and website costs that make it possible. If you have found value in these guides and want to chip in, there is an optional Venmo link you can use to help cover hosting fees and a bit of the time it takes to keep everything current.
