Family Friendly Activities in Columbia, TN • Week of March 2 – 8, 2026

Weekly family friendly activities in Columbia Tennessee for March 1 - 8, 2026 with the downtown Columbia Square in the background

It’s exciting to welcome the first full week of March and feel those early hints of spring starting to settle in around Columbia and Spring Hill. The days are getting a little longer, the sunshine feels a touch warmer, and there’s a growing list of ways for families to get out and enjoy the season together. This week’s guide includes a blend of story times, creative classes, outdoor meetups, theater performances, and weekend events to help you fill your family calendar with fun and connection.

If you are keeping an eye on deadlines, here are two important registrations closing this week:

  • Soccer Shots Spring Hill – The spring season for ages 2-8 begins March 7 with classes grouped by age. Registration is open on a rolling basis, so families can sign up anytime before the season kicks off.
  • Youth Flag Football League with Phoenix Performance at Zion Christian Academy – The six-week league for ages 5-14 now starts March 21, with Saturday games. Regular registration has been extended through March 8, and possible late registration may continue through March 14 if space allows.

Some highlights for families looking for things to do with kids this week include:

  • Around the Neighborhood with Villages Clubhouse (Monday–Friday) – This week kicks off a new theme, “Around the Neighborhood,” with fun, locally inspired stations around the Arts District. Definitely one to check out!
  • Dino Moves Classes with Maddy’s Playhouse (Monday–Friday) – Drop in for open play or join one of the Dino Moves classes. Fun fact: Maddy’s was recently filmed for an upcoming video by YouTuber Silly Miss Lily!
  • Baby Time at Spring Hill Public Library (Monday & Saturday Mornings) – A sweet and engaging story time with songs, rhymes, gentle movement, and play. This interactive session is perfect for babies from birth to age 2 and their caregivers, followed by unstructured playtime.
  • Little Leprechaun Hideaways (Wednesday Afternoon) – Kids can get crafty and design tiny homes for mischievous leprechauns using recycled materials and art supplies. It’s a great way to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day season with a fun, hands-on project.
  • Ballet Class (Thursday Late Morning) – A beginner-friendly class that introduces basic ballet positions and movement through play. Best for ages 3 to 6, but open to all kids who love to move and dance.
  • Candle Bar & Interchangeable Holder Workshop with That Darn Pineapple (Friday Evening) – Design your own scented candle and decorate a reusable, interchangeable holder. Participants choose from a variety of fragrances and materials, leaving with a custom candle to take home. Recommended for ages 10 and up, with younger kids welcome to participate with adult help.
  • Sand & Strand with Columbia Parks & Recreation (Saturday Morning) – Create colorful sand art bottles and bead bracelets in the fresh air at Woodland Park. This free program is open to all ages and a great mix of creativity, community, and outdoor fun.

However you plan your week, I hope this guide helps your family find a few fun and creative ways to enjoy these first days of March.

Planning outings with kids can take a lot of energy, and my hope is that having everything gathered in one place makes it a little easier to spot what might be a good fit for your week. Whether you are trying something brand new or heading back to a favorite spot, I hope this guide helps your family find a few things you genuinely look forward to, and as always, it is a good idea to double-check details with the event host before you head out.

I am also exploring ways to keep this weekly guide going long term, including offsetting the behind-the-scenes costs of hosting and maintaining the site. If you have found these guides helpful and would like to support the work that goes into putting them together each week, there is an optional link to contribute via Venmo that helps cover website expenses and a bit of the time it takes to keep everything updated.
