This Week’s Columbia TN Kids Guide • October 6th – October 12th

It’s fall break for many families in Maury County, so this week’s calendar (October 6–12) looks a little different. Some weekly programs may be cancelled or rescheduled, and Spring Hill Library programming will not take place on Tuesday. I did my best to check for changes, but please confirm before you go.

If you’re looking for seasonal outings, don’t forget to check the Fall Events Guide for pumpkin patches, festivals, and fall activities nearby. I’ll be updating it with more places to explore soon.

Here are a few events worth highlighting this week:

  • Baby Playtime at Villages Clubhouse (Tuesday & Thursday)
A dedicated session for pre-walking infants with tummy time, sensory toys, and development-focused activities.
  • Pumpkin Painting Workshop at Columbia Aquatics & Recreation Center (Tuesday)
A free hands-on workshop with all supplies provided. Each child takes home a finished pumpkin.
  • Police Storytime at Fairview Park (Wednesday morning)
Storytime with Sgt. Jennifer Dalton, plus photos with her cruiser and fun giveaways.
  • Mom & Me Class at Exhale Fitness (Friday morning)
A playful, heartwarming class for moms and daughters ages 4–8, with Kids Care available for siblings.
  • Columbia Main Street Fall Fest (Saturday afternoon)
One of the biggest fall events, with live music, the Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off, inflatables, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, vendors, and food trucks.
  • Touch-a-Fire-Truck at Hidden Bee Animal Rescue (Saturday afternoon)
Kids can meet local firefighters, climb aboard real fire trucks, and enjoy a hands-on community event.

Maury County Public Library announced that renovations are set to begin on October 20, when the library will close. Programs are expected to continue off-site, though it is still unclear if some will shift earlier or remain at the library until the closure. I plan to confirm with the library early next week. In the meantime, please double-check with them before heading to a program.

I also want to acknowledge that I sometimes make mistakes. I may mistype or miss a detail, and other times hosts update their info or share conflicting posts. I’m sorry when that causes confusion, and I appreciate your understanding as I pull this guide together during nap times as an unpaid project. I am also still looking for sponsors, which would allow me to spend more time on the guide and make it as accurate and reliable as possible. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, please send me an email.

Scroll down or click on a day below for the full calendar with dates, times, costs, and links to help you plan.

That wraps up this week’s event roundup! If you found it helpful, share it with a friend who might want to get out and explore too. I’m always keeping an eye out for new events to add, so be sure to check back throughout the week for updates and last-minute additions.

As always, check with each location for the latest details, since schedules and prices can sometimes change. And if you know of an event I haven’t included, send it my way so I can share it with other families too.
