July 7 – 13 might be a lighter week, but Columbia and nearby Spring Hill still have plenty going on for families. The weekly staples are in place: library story times, art breaks, plus both Tinkering Station and Bubble Fun at aMuse’um Children’s Museum. On top of those, a few one-time events add extra pop:
- Blackberry-picking evening on a private farm in Williamsport (Tuesday)
- Royal Tea Party and other themed story times packed into Wednesday morning
- Colorful Magic Show at Spring Hill Public Library (Thursday only)
- Firefly Garden Club led by an awesome local mom who turns garden STEM into hands-on fun (Friday)
- Christmas in July photos with Santa downtown, followed by an outdoor movie (Saturday)

Ease into the week with some of our usual weekly favorites. Monday is all about cozy moments, stories, songs, and hands-on activities that spark your child’s curiosity.
👶 Baby Time

Today’s all about creativity, bubbles, and a special evening picking berries under the summer sun. Whether you’re crafting at the library or filling baskets at the farm, there is plenty to keep little hands busy. (Note: No stroller workout and walk this week.)

👩🌾 Family-Friendly Blackberry Picking
Location: Farmer Fred’s Wife Farm
Time: 6:00 to 8:00 PM
Cost: $5 per pint, no RSVP needed
Description: A friend of mine is opening her private, working farm for a low-key blackberry-picking evening. Thornless berries are $5 per pint. Enjoy a free sample of natural mosquito repellent before you pick, and browse drinks, snacks, and handmade remedies for purchase. This is an active farm with animals and open spaces, so children must stay in the designated picking area under a parent or guardian’s close supervision at all times. Shade is limited, and all-terrain strollers can work but need to be pushed up a small hill and along gravel paths. No public restrooms are available on site, so please plan accordingly.
Wednesday, July 9
Wednesday is overflowing with storytime choices. Kids can sip pretend tea with a princess, hear tales read by local police officers, enjoy community guest readers, or dive into creative play at the museum. Most sessions start at the same time, so choose the one that fits your family best and settle in for pages of fun.

Description: A local police officer will read a story aloud under the Rotary Shelter during this special edition of Storytime. Saturday, July 12
Saturday’s lineup has a little bit of everything. Stroll the farmers market in the morning, pop into downtown for a festive Christmas in July photo with Santa, and end the day with a family movie at the park. Whether you’re out early or staying up late, there’s something to enjoy from morning to night.
